I have lived in Grange my whole life and was luckly enough to grow up here, I now have a family of my own and together we run our own business. I feel I can give an option for the younger generation of Grange, especially for those with younger families, and those who run small businesses in Grange. Being a Town Councillor is something I want to do to help make Grange a better place for eveyone to live.

I moved to the South Lakes area in 1975 and joined the Estates Department of North West Water (now United Utilities) as a regional manager. From 1988 to retirement I was head of the National School of Forestry at Newton Rigg College Penrith. In 2000 I came to live in Grange, and have  now served for 9 years as a Town Councillor helping to maintain the quality of life and the environment of the Town as Chair of the 3 Parks Group.

It was truly an honour to be co-opted on to the Grange Town Council at the end of 2017.  I spent my childhood in Grange attending Grange C of E Primary School and then Cartmel Priory School.  After University I trained and worked in Carlisle before moving back to my family and roots in 2015.  I was brought up understanding the importance and the benefit of community.

Grange is a very special place to live and work.  Life constantly moves forward and change is inevitable but as a Town Councillor I want to ensure that any changes that are required are done sympathetically with the historic tradition of our beautiful town.

I am lucky to be part of, and know the history of, “old Grange” but with a young family of my own I am excited to now be part of the new generation and I hope to promote and preserve the Grange we all love.

Councillor Trish Thomas

I moved to Grange-over-Sands in 2008, having been coming here to visit friends and for holidays for more than ten years before that.
I am married and have two grown up sons. I am also a grandmother. Having worked in the public sector for more than twenty five years as a teacher, I am experienced in, and enjoy, working with people of all ages.
I first became a member of the Town Council in 2011 and have worked hard with my fellow Councillors, the town Council staff and various outside bodies to try to keep the town a place we can all be proud of and enjoy living in. I was honoured to serve as the Civic Mayor in 2014-2015, attending a large number of local events and meeting some amazing people along the way.
I now look forward to working with my fellow Councillors and others towards a bright, exciting and sustainable future for the town.
